Norfolk Meditation Group EVERY Sunday

Starts this Sunday June 19th!
Gatherings will be from 5:30pm - 6:30pm on Sundays.
A small donation is suggested to support the space.

...The Norfolk Meditation Group is a new community-run gathering for anyone interested in the practice of meditation. Our purpose is to hold a space for weekly meditation gatherings and discussion, so that beginners and experienced practitioners alike can share their wisdom and support each other in building and sustaining a meditation practice.

We will explore meditation techniques from different traditions. Each week, one of us will offer meditation instructions as we have personally practiced. This will give us a wide range of perspectives to draw from. Afterwards we will have an open discussion about meditation practice or anything related to meditation.
We plan to host experienced meditation instructors in the future.

Hi, I am trying to start a group for meditation for beginners group meet to begin in the fall. What kind of format will you be implementing to get things started? I am self-taught and really haven't had a lot of experience in group meditation sessions and lack the confidence to lead a group. If you could offer advice on your basic format (like what kinds of meditations you'll introduce first) that would be great.

Thanks

Hi Roxanne!

My initial response was to invite you to our group but after visiting your website I discovered that you are in Oregon!
I have been studying yoga and meditation for several years with many different teachers and am pulling from all of those experiences when leading meditation- depending on who is there and what their level of practice is. We have had one guest host who spoke about his experiences with Zen meditation. We may have another person talk about vipassana soon. My suggestion to you would be to find a meditation group or teacher in your area that you resonate with and begin attending regularly. As you may already know, this is a path of unfoldment, and it is only through observance, patience, dedicated practice and humility that we may find that which we seek. Being self taught is wonderful in many ways, however, the challenge for most of us is finding the words that lead others to a similar experience within them. This is an art form that must be consciously cultivated over time with the constructive feedback of a person or persons whom understand the inner workings of meditation.

Many blessings on your path!
Sincerely,
Liz Sanderson

Meditation is also practiced in Oriental Wellness spa. It helps clear the mind before a soothing massage.
