


All Levels Hatha Yoga
A flow through various postures (asana) in combination with controlled breathing (pranayama) and a conscious awareness of alignment to strengthen, lengthen and rejuvenate the body. Yoga postures, when expressed mindfully, encourage concentration, inner stillness, perseverance, patience, self-acceptance and a sense of humor; all of which benefit overall health and well-being. Modifications, variations and partner work is used to encourage students to experience the asana fully and safely.
Infant Yoga
Itsy BitsyYoga is appropriately conceptualized for the developmental stages of infants between the ages of 8 weeks to 10 mos. It is designed for the infants to experience yoga. This fun, engaging group activity is also a wonderful way for parents or any family members to enjoy each other. Each infant is guided by one parent or guardian for a fully shared experience into the many creative ways yoga can be introduced. The more attentive the parent or guardian is, the more this practice and their shared experience can come to life. Although the classes are an introduction to yoga, it is intended to set up an interest or awareness which lasts a life time.
Toddler Yoga
Itsy BitsyYoga is appropriately conceptualized for the developmental stages of toddlers between the ages of 11mos. and 2 yrs. It is designed for the toddler to experience yoga. This fun, engaging group activity is also a wonderful way for parents or any family members to enjoy each other. Each toddler is guided by one parent or guardian for a fully shared experience into the many creative ways yoga can be introduced. The more attentive the parent or guardian is, the more this practice and their shared experience can come to life. Beginner Yoga
A multi-disciplinary approach to practice which incorporates techniques and methods from a variety of teachers and systems. Hatha yoga balances "ha" or sun/stimulating energy with "tha" or moon/calming energy. Hatha also refers to any practice of postures and therefore, all styles of yoga offered at The Space Above are a form of Hatha yoga practice. Open to all levels and recommended for young and old, injured and athletic alike. Emphasis is on developing some of the fundamental postures with proper alignment and basic breathing techniques.
Early Risers Yoga
A beginner hatha yoga class. This class is ideal for any practitioner looking for a great way to begin the day! Class structure includes a gentle flow of basic poses, with focus on breath, alignment and relaxation. During the hour and 15 minute session, students are encouraged to enjoy their expression of each pose and accept what he or she is able to bring to the mat each day. An ideal class for those new to yoga, however all levels are welcome!
East Meets West Asana Flow
This class fuses Western culture's music and technology with Eastern culture's sacred rituals and ancient tradition. With an innovative combination of asana, inspiring spirituality, and great modern music ranging from A Tribe Called Quest to Emmylou Harris, this class is geared toward students looking to have a great time in a consistent flowing asana practice. Set to music including rock, reggae, hip hop, blues and world beats, each flow class offers an inspiring message and a deeply relaxing finish.
Introduction to Hatha Yoga
This class offers an introduction to yoga designed for the yoga novice. Students will learn the fundamental principles of alignment for basic yoga poses, simple yogic philosophy, breathing, transition and relaxation. All of this will gently and slowly guide you into a complete yoga practice. A safe place for beginners to experience yoga and for continuing students to deepen their practice.
Iyengar-Inspired Level 1 & 2
Iyengar-inspired class emphasizing correct alignment and the right actions which develop flexibility, strength, stamina, and balance. The classical asanas (poses) are initially taught from the structural body level, creating correct alignment of the bones and joints in the poses. Poses are eventually held longer than in many other yoga styles. This is an on-going classes for beginners with an emphasis on developing the fundamental postures.
